7. Synchronized Calibration of FLIR Industrial Cameras

  1. Install the FLIR camera driver software SpinnakerSDK_FULL_4.0.0.116_x64.exe

  1. After the software installation is complete, connect the FLIR camera to the computer using a USB cable. Once the connection is established, switch to the reference video interface in XINGYING. If the video feed is displayed normally, it indicates that the camera has been successfully connected.
  2. In the XINGYING software, clicking "Connect cameras" will simultaneously connect both the optical camera and the FLIR camera.

  1. Adjust the camera’s focus and aperture. The camera has two adjustment rings in the middle: the front ring controls the focus, while the rear ring controls the aperture (note that this may vary with different camera models, where the front ring may control the aperture and the rear ring the focus). When adjusting the focus or aperture, turn the rings slowly while observing the image until the desired result is achieved.
  2. Set the FLIR camera parameters. First, switch to the reference video view, then click the device name in the reference video list to modify the related camera parameters.

  1. Parameter Description
  • Type: When the FLIR industrial camera is connected to different cameras, different parameters should be selected. NK-L-0814-2M (2H), NK-L-0614-2M (2HW), NK-L-1214-4M (4H), NK-L-0614-4M (4HW). The figures below show examples of the camera connected with the 2HW and 4H cameras.

  • Pixel Size: FLIR camera parameter, generally no need to modify.
  • Width: FLIR camera parameter, generally no need to modify.
  • Height: FLIR camera parameter, generally no need to modify.
  • Frame Rate Enable: If disabled, the camera uses its default frame rate; if enabled, the frame rate is controlled by the XINGYING system.
  • Frame Rate: Set the camera frame rate.
  • Exposure Mode: Can be automatic or manual; manual mode is generally recommended.
  • Exposure Time: Set according to actual conditions; a value around 1000 is generally recommended.
  1. Calibration: An active calibration frame is required. The other procedures are the same as the standard optical camera calibration process and can be referenced in the calibration section of the XINGYING User Manual.
  2. After the calibration is complete, the system can be used normally. In the 3D view, right-click to enable the video data overlay function, which allows the extracted information to be overlaid on the reference video.
